Question:
How would you connect a 7 way socket plug on a 2018 jeep renegade wiring on the car harness?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The easiest way to add a 7 way connector to your 2018 Jeep Renegade that already has a 4 way trailer connector attached is going to be using the # ETBC7L . This allows you to minimize the wiring work required and keep your existing 4 way plug for future towing setups that may need it.
After plugging in the # ETBC7L into the 4- way on your vehicle you'll need to wire the remaining wires as follows:
White - ground
Blue - brake controller
Black - hot lead - 12 volt power supply
Yellow - auxiliary / reverse lights (purple on # 37185 )
I've attached a picture to this question that can serve as a guide to these wires as well as a link to our help article on trailer wiring, which has some helpful diagrams that you may need to refer to.
If you only need the lights active, the Hopkins 4-way to 7-way # 37185 could also be installed and you can just leave the other wires un-attached.
If you're in need of a brake controller for this setup, the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 is a Bluetooth enabled brake controller that connects wirelessly to your smartphone and allows you to control your trailer brakes with your phone. It's also one of the easiest installations of any brake controller on the market since you don't have to worry about mounting anything in the cab of your vehicle.
