Location of a CHMSL Wire on a 2011 F350 for Third Brake Light Wiring

Question:

Since the brake light wire can not be tapped, can you tell me where to find the correct wire to use without tapping the cab 3rd brake light? I have a 2011 F-350 SD Thanks!

On your 2011 Ford F-350 SD there is a blue-orange wire under the hood on the driver side that can be used to power the third brake light.

Check out the picture I attached to see what it looks like.

In regard to the blue/orange wire on a 2014 F150 that is used to power the third brake light (CHMSL) on my Leer cap, can you tell me where the power comes from or what fuse is used for this light. I was getting power to the line and now it is dead. I think I may have shorted it.. Thanks.

On your F-150 there should be a 15 amp fuse located in the # 15 position inside the passenger compartment fuse box tied to that circuit.

Chris, thank you for responding. The fuse in #15 is actually for the high mounted brake light on the back of the cab. As I have since found out, the fuse for the blue/orange wire for the CHMSL is actually #31. I replaced the burnt out fuse and the CHMSL is now working. Thanks.. Paul

Awesome - sorry I gave you the wrong fuse location but glad you were able to fix the issue!
