3-Bike Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Recommendation for 2012 Toyota Highlander

Question:

Hi there! Im in the market for a 3-bike Trunk rack for my 2012 Toyota Highlander. We dont have a hitch installed. I would like to transport my husbands FUJI Absolute 4.0, my TREK WSD 7000, and my childs 20inch bike on the either the SARIS EX 3 or one of the Yakima trunk racks. However, it doesnt seem like I would be able to safely install/secure my Trek step-through bike on any of these bike racks. Can you pls. recommend a bike rack that would accommodate all 3 of our bikes, and whatever companion items I might need in order to get all our bikes fastened securely for long road trips? Thanks so much,

For your 2012 Toyota Highlander the best trunk bike rack solution is the Yakima Fullback 3 part # Y02633 as it has the largest mounting pads which help distribute the weight of the bikes, is the easiest to install and adjust, and comes with locks for the bikes to the rack and the rack to the vehicle. I also really like how easy it is to mount bikes to the rack with the zip straps. I attached a review video link for this rack for more info as well. The Saris you mentioned is a nice rack too, but the Yakima is overall nicer and easier to use.

Since you have a bike with a step through frame what you will need is a bike frame adapter like part # UB01 which attaches to the steering stem and the seat post to give you a level attachment for the bike to attach to. I attached a review video and picture of this in use as well. You'll probably need to use this adapter on the kids bike as well.
