Trailer Brakes Kill Battery On Camper While Unhooked From Vehicle
Question:
Why would my camper trailer brakes draw power from my camper batteries when sitting unhooked from the truck? Within 24 hours the batteries are dead.

Helpful Expert Reply:
The electric trailer brakes on your camper should, if wired correctly be independent of the auxiliary battery. I am not sure what makes you think the electric trailer brakes are the cause of your dead auxiliary battery but the only way I could see this happening would be if there was a short on the brake output wire and auxiliary battery or if your breakaway was wired to the auxiliary battery and the pin was pulled.
If you could, check over your wiring and then confirm how you have the breakaway switch wired.
