Is Drilling Required to Install Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75120 on a 2001 Toyota Sienna

Question:

I know I have two pre-drilled holes towards the rear of my sienna, but do your hithces typically require a third hole to be drilled in the frame? I am pretty good with tools but having to drill a whole into the frame may be the difference between a do-it-yourself or pay job for me.

In order to install the Draw-Tite trailer hitch, # 75120, you would need to drill 2 holes, 1 on each frame rail. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view. Drilling the holes will not be that difficult. You will attach the hitch to the 4 (2 on each side) holes that are already there. Then you will use the hitch as a template and drill the holes for the remaining two attachment points.

Using a special high quality drill bit like the 1/2 inch rotabroach bit will make drilling into the frame easier.

If you plan on doing some towing I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK4. It comes with a ball mount, interchangeable ball set, a hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag. For trailer wiring use # 43475. I have included a link to the installation details and a link to a video showing a typical installation.
