Drivers Side Tail Light Malfunction on Trailer Hooked Up to 1 Truck But Not Another
Question:
I purcahsed this part and it works great on my 2012 GMC Sierra, however when I used it on my 2012 GMC Yukon only the passenger side trailer lights work not the driver side. Same trailer and part only difference is the vehicle its hooked to. Is this a part/wrong part issue or the vechicle? If the vehicle what do I check or how do I fix?

Since this problem is only occurring when towed by a certain vehicle, this is most likely something on your 2012 Yukon, but it is possible that the 2 systems draw different amperage or the grounding on the Yukon isn't sufficient and this adapter just won't work on the Yukon. Be sure to check the ground wire on your Yukon to make sure it is connected to a non-painted surface and secured tightly.
From there, you can examine the trailer connector on the Yukon and make sure that it is free from debris and corrosion-if there is any significant corrosion you need to clean or replace the factory wiring harness on the vehicle with the Pollack 7 Pole Trailer Connector Socket with Mounting Bracket # PK11898 . If all is good on the harness visually, you'll want to test the vehicle 7 way connector using a circuit tester similar to # PTW2992 to make sure that the 7 way on your Yukon is functioning properly.
If the 7 way connector is not supplying power to all of the ports, whichever port is not getting voltage can be isolated as the wire causing the issue. Look behind the harness and trace the wire back checking for damage of any type and replace the wire as needed. You'll also need to check your fuses; a damaged wire could have caused a fuse to blow and even after repairing it, you won't get any power on the wire until the fuse has been replaced.
If that hasn't solved your issue, let me know and I'll be happy to walk you through some other steps we can take to fix this. I've also attached a help article to this question that has wiring diagrams in it to help give you a general idea of how your vehicle harness is wired.
