Could Truck Tailgate Lock Get Pried Off from 2009 Chevy Silverado to be Stolen
Question:
I watched video- Seems like you just snap cover on with lock. So why can’t a thief just pry off cover, and with it the lock? Maybe when it is locked, it prevents pulling off cover???? It did say it must be unlocked when you install.

With the right tools and time a thief could maybe pry off the handle and then damage the internals of the lock handle enough that it could release but, if someone was really wanting to steal a tailgate they probably wouldn't have much use for a broken one. Which is why the tailgate lock # BL5922987 is very effective. Most tailgate thieves would come up to yours with a lock and not think it's worth the time it would take to steal as all of that time they'd need would be more time for them to get caught.
