Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a Subaru Impreza Sport with Class I Hitch

Question:

Hello, We have installed the hitch and now the research starts on bike racks... It seems that most do not clarify if they will work with a Class 1 receiver. I need something for two bikes that will accommodate childrens frames. For no reason in particular I prefer the ones with cradles but what would you recommend? Thank you very much.

First, I have included a link to all of the trailer hitch mount bike racks that will fit a Class I trailer hitch. We do indicate on all bike rack product pages the hitch classes the bike rack will fit somewhere in the description and/or specs.

For a 2 bike hanging rack, I recommend the Swagman Trailhead, # S63360. This rack is compatible with a Class I trailer hitch. I have included a link to the installation details for you to view. The arms measure 11-1/2 inches apart on this rack, measured outside to outside. If the kids bike top tubes are at least that long, this rack would work great.

If the frame tubes are shorter, you will also want an adapter bar, # TH982XT, to carry the bikes level and to make sure they will fit. Childrens bike frames can be too small to fit on a 2 arm rack so the adapter will be needed. I have included a link to a video that shows how the adapter works.
