Finding Brake Switch Wire on 2016 Jeep Patriot for Install of Supplemental Braking Kit
Question:
My brake switch has 6 wires on it and I have tried finding wiring diagrams for it online to no avail. I cannot put on the Brakemaster brake light relay without knowing which wire to go to and do not want to punch holes in 6 wires to find out which is which. It is a 2016 Jeep Patriot, manual everything i.e. windows, locks, transmission. These are very small wires, possibly 18 or 20 gauge. Any help?

Since we don't have a way to find the wire color you need to identify your stoplight switch circuit the best solution we have is a circuit tester designed for testing small gauge wire accurately without causing permanent damage like the # PTW2993. This uses a sharp point and a hook to poke the wire and get to the core without mangling it and possible damaging it. So you'll need to test all of the wires you have on your switch with this till you find the circuit that has voltage only when the brakes are applied.
