I do have a great way for you to accurately determine the tongue weight of your 1984 Layton Celebrity Trailer but I wasn't able to track down any specific specs, most likely due to its age. Your best option will be to use the Tongue Weight Scale # e99044 to pin down this number.
You can use this to determine the tongue weight on your trailer both when it's empty and when it's loaded to ensure proper load distribution. You want the tongue weight to be 10 to 15 percent of its total weight to cut down on sway during travel and maintain overall stability.
I have attached a short video review on this product that you can check out as well.
