Can Phone be Disconnected from Curt Echo While Towing

Can I disconnect from app while driving and just use my regular truck brakes?

The Curt Echo # C51180 is designed to retain the settings and still operate if the smart device were to ever become disconnected/lose signal but I don't recommend driving like this normally because you lose the ability to use the manual override in an emergency situation. If you'd rather not have your phone connected to a brake controller while you're driving then I recommend using a different brake controller like the Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR which can be mounted virtually anywhere (provided there is enough cord length) and the only part that you need access to is the 3/4" diameter knob.
