Troubleshooting Motorhome Leveling System Not Working And Blowing Fuse

Question:

We recently bought a 2007 Damon RV Challenger, and there is a problem with the leveling jacks. At first, we thought it was the 60A Buss fuse. We replaced both of those, but one keeps tripping, and we must turn the motor off to reset it. When we try to lower the jacks, there is a clicking sound by the hydraulic motor. Does the motor solenoid need replaced, or is there a problem with the wiring leading up to the 60A buss fuse tripping?

The issue you're describing could be related to the motor but there's also a good chance that it's due to a weak power supply. I recommend making sure the battery system you have the leveling jacks wired to is completely charged and in good condition.

A weak battery (or even just a less than fully charged one) can cause a fuse to trip and the type of performance you're describing because the motor is trying to do more than it's capable of, so it leads to a power surge. After you check the battery for voltage inspect the wiring leading up to it from the jack system, making sure there aren't any frayed, pinched, or damaged portions that need to be replaced. Also make sure your ground connection is securely attached to clean bare metal.

If the issue persists please let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot.
