Trailer Hitch for 2016 Dodge Durango That Fits Through Opening In Rear Bumper

Does this fit in the cut out in the bumper or does it mount below the bumper?

The etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98901 that you referenced will sit below the rear bumper of your 2016 Dodge Durango. This allows for a really simple bolt-on installation without having to modify or temporarily remove anything on the bumper.

When I order your trailer hitch for a 2021 Grand Cherokee, my intent is to eventually purchase a an aluminum folding cargo platform. Would I need an extension? Should the extension be offset to raise the cargo platform higher off the ground?

I wouldn't go with an extension because that will cut the weight rating of your trailer hitch in half. I'm attaching a link to our selection of aluminum cargo carriers that you can check out. From there you can select the folding options to see what we currently have available.
