What Kind of Sway is Expected from the Yakima HoldUp During Travel
Question:
Hi there! We’re currently driving cross country with our two bikes loaded up, and find that at highway speeds, there’s definitely some swaying going on. I’d guess it’s between 2-4” of sway with the rack itself both up and down and side to side the bikes are on securely. We just want some reassurance- is this normal? All reviews seem to suggest there’s no movement at all and that is simply not the case for us. Thanks!

If you are on rough terrain then you may be seeing some exaggerated movement of the Yakima HoldUp 2 Bike Rack # Y02443 but since it does have an anti-rattle hitch pin the shank itself should be solid and not moving. The trays would be the parts that you see some movement from just because of how far they stick out. You can see what kind of movement to expect from this bike rack in the attached test course video. If you are getting a lot more movement than that while driving down the road then the either the anti-rattle pin isn't secured well enough or something else is going on.
Let me know if you have any additional questions!
