Replacement Landing Gear Recommendation for Venture Set that Keep Failing
Question:
So I have a 2005 crossroads cruiser fifthwheel. Last year I had one of the legs fail so I went ahead and replaced both legs with the venture 29 1/2inch legs. They worked well for the season. I used it at the beginning of the season it worked, and the second trip I went to left it and found out that the lead landing gear leg drive pin and broke in half. So I replaced it and it worked for the trip. After the third trip it broke again in the same place. So my question is, what could have caused the drive pin the break twice in half? It broke right at the pin that holds it in place in the leg. I do have a high truck with a ball hitch so I have to lift the trailer high when loading. Could that be the cause? Just wondering if there is something I could be doing wrong.

Are you possibly overloading the landing gear and the set is failing due to not being able to handle the weight of your fifth wheel? The Venture landing gear isn't known to repeatedly failing like you are experiencing so it would seem likely the kit you have is over capacity.
Best option would be a higher capacity set of powered landing gear like the Ultra Fab kit part # UF17-943010 which have a 12,000 lb lifting capacity. I attached a review video for this set for you to check out as well.
