Question:
I just purchased your XL base plate for a 99 Chev Tracker. Will this tow bar work with this? Thanks

I would first recommend to check your owners manual or check with Chevrolet regarding any guidelines or modifications that might be necessary to flat tow your 1999 Chevrolet Tracker. Some vehicles require modifications such as a drive line disconnect, transmission lube pump, freewheeling hubs or axle disconnects.
To use the Tow Ready Adjustable Tow Bar, part # 63180, on the Roadmaster XL base plates you will need to use the Roadmaster Base Plate to Tow Ready Tow Bar Adapter, part # RM-025, and the Roadmaster Tow Bar Quick Disconnect Kit, part # RM-201. These parts will allow you to flat tow your 1999 Chevrolet Tracker with the Roadmaster XL base plates. The Tow Ready # 63180 tow bar is only rated for a maximum speed of 45 miles per hour.
If the speed rating on the Tow Ready tow bar is going to be a problem I would recommend to look at the RoadMaster Tracker Tow Bar, part # RM-020. This tow bar will not be limited to the 45 mile per hour speed rating, and will not require the # RM-025 adapter since it is a Roadmaster brand. You will still need to use the Quick Disconnect Kit # RM-201 to connect the Roadmaster Tracker tow bar to the XL base plates.
In addition to the base plates and the tow bar you will need safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking.
For safety cables, I recommend the Roadmaster Coiled Safety Cables, part # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables from touching the ground. For lighting there are a few options. If you will towing the vehicle frequently, I recommend installing diodes using kit # RM-154. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation. If you do not plan on towing it frequently, you can use a magnetic kit, # RM-2120.
Most states now require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Roadmaster Even Brake System, part # RM-9400, which is a proportional system that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the towing vehicle is braking. Proportional systems are the safest way to stop and reduce wear and tear on both vehicles.
