Using the iRV RV Stereo IRV34 To Replace a Sony Unit On an RV

Question:

We are primarily interested in this Product_Code=IRV34 unit because it has dvd capability with multiple hdmi outputs. We will need to increase the cutout in our Airstream to replace our factory included sony unit photo included accommodate it which I am fine with. But I am interested in knowing 1 how complicated the the rewiring will be, 2 if the remote control will work behind a wall in the camper, 3 if we can specify only the tv speakers, 4 if we can use bluetooth headphones as a substitute for all other speakers, and 5 should we in fact be considering a different unit from you guys. Thank you for your help.

I have attached the answers to the questions you have on the iRV RV Stereo part # IRV34 below:

1) The process to swap the Sony unit out for the iRV unit means you have to cut the pigtail off of the old unit you have now and attach it to the one on the iRV. It is about 20 wires or so but they should each be labeled so all you need to do is match function to function and then join the wires with butt connectors, part # DW05744-10 (2).

2) The remote will work best when the sensor is pointed directly at the unit, similar to a TV remote. It is really not possible to say whether or not it will work through any given wall as there are too many variables present but most likely it will not.

3) If you are using the HMDI port, you can play sound through the speakers on the TV only.

4) This device will only receive input from Bluetooth, not output so you cannot use it with Bluetooth headphones.

5) The rules for the above (remote won't work through walls, no Bluetooth headphones) are pretty much standard for the majority if not all RV stereos. The main differences lie with input types, number of zones, file readability so if the iRV RV Stereo part # IRV34 has what you need in regards to this then it will be a great, quality choice for you.
