Can the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk Be Used with a Cargo Carrier

Question:

Do you know what the receiver hitch itself is rated for? We want to mount a cargo carrier to the receiver hitch instead of a bike carrier but we need to know whether doing so will cause too much pressure on the receiver hitch. So is the 100 pound rating because of the bunk frame or the receiver hitch? Thank you.

The Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk Trailer-Mounted Bike Rack Carrier part # CC-275 does not have a separate rating for the receiver tube portion and the frame portion if that is what you are asking. The total weight capacity of any accessory mounted inside the receiver tube is 100 lbs. Therefore, you can absolutely use this with a cargo carrier but the weight of the carrier and cargo cannot exceed 100 lbs. If it does exceed 100 lbs then your only option is a rear mount hitch, the Curt RV Bumper Hitch part # E-100 or the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13703.
