Is Vehicle Engine Oil Being 225 Degrees Safe

Question:

I own a 2015 Ram 1500 with the Eco Diesel. Ive noticed my oil temp runs around 225 running down a fairly flat Texas Freeway doing 75 WITH OUT towing anything. Do you have a product suggestion to help me cool my oil temp? Im not a mechanic and a 70 year old partially disabled Vet so a simple installation is required.

You are actually totally fine. Engine oil does best when it's temperature is right at 225-230 degrees when the vehicle is at operating temperature so there would be no need to keep it any cooler. Synthetic oils can handle up to 300 degrees without a problem.

As long as the coolant temperature is within the correct range (it should be) then you have nothing to worry about. One easy trick to reduce coolant temperatures that you can pull off since you are down south is to replace the coolant with distilled water as it's much more efficient at removing heat than anti-freeze water mixes.
