Troubleshooting Door Isolation Switch Not Functioning On RV Power Steps
Question:
I bought and installed this upgrade/conversion kit last year on my 1999 Bounder 36S. The new wiring harness color coding did not match the coach wiring harness color coding so I spliced the new wiring harness according to the position of the plug. Installed new door switch and all works great the step ALWAYS follows the door, whether engine running or not. Now my door isolation switch is inoperative I am unable to keep the steps extended with the door in the closed position. Need help, please.

I'd check the wiring of the switch at the switch itself as well as back where it attaches to the step. It sounds like either the wiring of the switch is bad or the switch itself is bad. Since it's much more likely to be the wiring that would be what I would suspect.
To test the switch you can bypass it by cutting the wires that run to the switch and having the two wires contact each other.
