Replacement Axle That Measures 86-1/2 Hub Face To Hub Face

Question:

I need to replace one of my axles on a travel trailer. My current axles are 86.5inch hub face to hub face. I only find 87inch replacements. Would there be any issue with having a 1/2inch difference between axles?

Great news, we do carry replacement trailer axles that measure 86-1/2" hub face to hub face like the one you currently have. You would also want to make sure the replacement axle has the same spring center to spring center measurement as your existing axle and the same weight capacity.

For example: the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles - 86-1/2" Long part # 8327816 measures 86-1/2" hub face to hub face and 71-1/2" spring center to spring center with a 5,200 lb capacity. The spindles also use an inner bearing of # 25580 and outer bearing of # LM67048 so you want to be sure of your bearing numbers before replacing the axle as well if you want to use the same hubs. Another dimension to keep in mind is the tube diameter of your existing axle should match the new axles diameter. I have added a link to the 86-1/2" axles we carry.

It is not a good idea to use two different length axles because you could experience uneven tire wear and suspension issues.
