Can Landing Gear Wiring Get Reversed and Still Function

Question:

If I hook the hot wire up to the wrong terminal on the switch to my fifth wheel that raises the landing gears up and down will it burn the switch up inside

It's hard to say what damage (if any) would occur to the switch for your powered landing gear or the motors of the set. This isn't something that the landing gear manufacturers actively test. You might not see any damage, there might be a spark from the short which could melt wiring and possibly damage the switch.

Best solution I can give you would be to make sure that you don't reverse the wiring so that you don't run the risk of anything breaking/melting.
