Can DC to DC Charger Be Wired to Existing 12V Outlet in Truck  

Question:

I have an electric output in the back of my truck i use it to drive my onboard air compressor it is connected straight to the battery via 80 amp rely and a 70 amp fuse, ther is an Anderson plug on the cables 35Q welding cables can I connect a dc to dc charger to this outlet to charge my camper while driving.

Yes, you can connect the wiring from a DC to DC charger like the excellent Redarc # 331-BCDC1225D to the outlet in your truck that's already wired to the battery. I also reached out to my contact at Redarc just to be sure there wouldn't be any issues with this setup and he said it will work perfectly as long as the outlet uses a thick enough wire to allow for ideal charging during travel. I have attached a chart that shows the wire gauge you will want to use based on cable length.
