When using an item like the Progressive Dynamics RV Power Control Center # PD4135K to charge your RV batteries it is important to confirm the batteries are a compatible type. This unit works with several battery types: flooded lead acid, AGM, and gel batteries. The instructions for this item are linked for reference.

You'll also want to note that RV batteries will last for a finite number of charge-discharge cycles. A deep cycle battery usually has a lifespan of about 200 charge-discharge cycles before it can no longer take a good charge. Batteries that sit idle for a long time in a depleted state (as in during the off-season) will not last and may not take a charge after being in a depleted condition for many months. A deep cycle gel cell battery may last as little as two years. Lead/acid batteries will “gas” and lose some fluid when continuously connected to a charging source and so their fluid level must be checked regularly.

One of our RV power resources, Go Power, recommends recharging deep cycle batteries as soon as possible after depletion and even selling them after camping season has ended.

There are a couple black wires coming from the back of the unit, so I went ahead and linked the instructions below to make sure you get exactly what you're needing. There's a nice wiring diagram on third page. Progressive Dynamics recommends using 10 to 8 gauge wiring.

Is there a soldering involved

Yes, the DC battery connections for the Power Control Center would need to be soldered to the circuit board.
