Comparing the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System To a Torsion and Leaf Spring Axle
Question:
Question 1: I need to be educated on torsion bar axles. I have a Palomino tent trailer that Im seeing cracks in the mounting brackets. I tend to go on a lot go wash board here in Idaho and in Utah. I believe I have a Dexter axle. Im liking the idea of an axle less suspension system. Is this the right direction for this trailer? What type or options should I be thinking about? Question 2: Im thinking of upgrading to a hard side travel trailer. Small. 20 footer Ill be taking it on those same roads. Probably drive the new one a little slower. What would be the best suspension system I should be looking for knowing my driving habits. I did say Id try driving slower. Thanks

The main components that make the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System like part # A35RS545E a great option and superior to either a standard leaf spring or torsion axle is the independent design when combined with the lack of a traditional axle beam. This brings the best of both worlds together (repair-ability of leaf spring axle and independent operation of torsion axle).
The lack of a traditional axle beam will provide better ground clearance and the independent design will provide a much smoother ride. For example, if you were to run over a bump or pot hole with the right rear tire, the entire trailer is going to bounce when using a straight axle. If you were using an independent system then only the right side of the trailer is going to bounce as there is no solid connection to the other side for this movement to travel.
The Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System will be a great option for either trailer. If you can let me know what axle capacity the system will be replacing is, I can make some exact recommendations but otherwise I have attached a list of our options for you.
