Can Battery be Charged and Discharged at Same Time

Curious why you cannot have a battery charging while also using an inverter sourcing its power from the inverter?

While you can't have a battery being charged and discharged at the same time if you were to charge a battery at 1 amp and have a 3 amp accessory attached to it (like an inverter powering something) basically you'd be discharging the battery at 2 amps instead since the charger would be supplying one of the amps for the accessory.
