Weight Distribution Recommendation for a 2009 Trail Sport 3,100 Pounds Dry Weight
Question:
purchased a 2009 Trail Sport TSE191 UVW of 3100#, 324#TW. I have an option to buy 1200#/12000# Dual Cam system. Will this work for my application?? From reading on your site I get the feeling it will work but offer a stiffer ride, would that be correct?

You are correct in assuming the Dual Cam System will give you at the very least a stiffer ride, but the system may prove to be ineffective as well. It is very important to match the weight distribution system tongue weight (TW) capacity to your specific application. For instance, using spring bars with a higher TW capacity than a trailer calls for can lead to erratic weight distributing performance.
To choose a system you will need to go by the total tongue weight. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer when loaded and ready to tow and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
An unloaded tongue weight of 324 pounds is sure to increase once loaded and ready to tow. I recommend going with a system rated for 200 to 600 pounds, # BLU47FR. This includes the tow ball, shank, and weight distribution control. I have included links to our help articles on weight distribution and determining tongue weight.
