Bearings For Older Trailer Hub 22834

Question:

I have an old trailer from a long time ago. It is a 6 lug hub with a step axle, meaning the small bearing is 1 inch I.D. bearing #1779 and the inside bearing is 1-1/2 inch bearing #2788 I.D. It looks like the measurement center to center across the hub is 5-5/8. Do you have anything like this or can you recommend something else? It would be real nice to find something more standard. Thanks Im also having the same problem but think I can fix it by changing the race and bearings

It sounds like you have the older hub 22834 that is no longer in production that takes the outer bearing of part # 1779 and inner bearing of part # 2788. I was not able to find any other bearings that measure .093" inner diameter besides 1779 or any other bearings that measure 1.50" inner diameter besides 2788. Any other size bearings will not fit the spindle.

Your best option is to get a new axle if you would like to find a new more modern hub that fits the spindle. Measure from the center of one spring seat to the center of the other spring seat. Then measure from hub face to hub face. I included a picture showing where to measure. In the picture the spring seat measurement is 74 inches and the hub face measurement is 89 inches. This is just an example. You would also need to know the axle capacity of the axle you have now to properly replace it.
