Procedure for Towing 2017 Chevy Colorado on Tow Dolly

Question:

Hi I have a 17 z71 4x4 Colorado. I plan on using a master tow dolly and will only have the rear wheels going. My question is it nessary to disconnect my negative battery cable because of the steering . I know the master tow dolly has plates that swivel. Thanks

I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2017 Chevy Colorado and it does not state anything about having to disconnect the negative side of the battery when towing the 4WD model using a dolly like # DM9713046 with the front wheels off the ground.

After driving the front wheels onto the dolly it says to shift the transmission to P (Park) and set the parking brake. Use a clamping device designed for towing to ensure that the front wheels are locked into the straight position. Then after properly securing the truck to the dolly shift the transfer case to N (Neutral), release the parking brake, turn the ignition to LOCK/OFF and you're ready to go.

I do highly recommend verifying this information in your copy of the manual or even by visiting a local Chevy dealer.

Can you dolly tow a 2020 Chevy Colorado 2wd. I am looking to buy a Chevy Colorado for dolly towing. What would be the procedure for dolly towing.

I looked at the owner's manual for the 2020 Colorado and it states that the 2WD model CANNOT be towed using a dolly or with all 4 wheels on the ground. The only safe way to tow the truck is with a flat bed trailer (with all 4 wheels off the ground).
