Will Bearing Buddy Protectors Maintain Grease Level for Inner Bearing
Question:
Does greasing the bearing buddy take care of the inside bearing as well?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors like # BB2047 are designed to replenish the wheel bearing grease all the way into your hubs so that it also reaches the inner bearing. However, they are not intended for filling dry bearings or hubs. We recommend that when servicing your hubs you use a bearing packer tool like # ALL647646 to pre-fill the bearings before you re-install them in the hubs. You should also spin the hubs while you pump in grease to help distribute it.
It is not recommended to use the Bearing Buddy to actually fill dry bearings that are in your hubs because of the risk of over-filling which would possibly damage the grease seal. Bearing Buddy protectors are intended to maintain your bearings' grease level but not to fill them when they are dry. Pre-packing the bearings with the tool # ALL647646 and using the protectors to maintain that grease level is the appropriate use.
