Will Roadmaster Guardian Rock Guard Restrict Airflow on GMC Acadia

Question:

I have read previous reviews, but none answer my question. We are interested in this product for flat towing our 2017 GMC Acadia Limited. However a concern prior to purchase is, in reviewing the vehicle owners manual it states.....caution...use of a shield mounted in front of the vehicle grill could restrict airflow and cause damage to the transmission. The repairs would not be covered by the vehicle warranty. If using a shield, only use one that attaches to the towing vehicle. I noticed several different vehicles in the reviews with this product installed, just want to make when installed no potential damage to the Acadia transmission. The owners manual does not clarify only when vehicle is not being towed as I know the guard would be removed when not in tow. Please help. Thanks

Since your owner's manual states not to use a vehicle mounted guard when it's being flat towed I have to recommend adhering to this advice. While most likely you would be fine, if anything were to go wrong because of the restricted airflow it would not be covered under the vehicle's warranty.

With this in mind I strongly recommend the Roadmaster Tow Defender # RM-4750 instead, which will attach to the base plates and tow bar on your setup to keep gravel and debris down and away from the Acadia. This will also leave the front of the vehicle free of any obstruction that would reduce air flow during travel.

I have attached a short video demonstration that you can check out as well.
