Recommendation to Replace Safety Chains After Adding Extended Ball Mount on 33 Foot Camper
Question:
I have a 33foot camper that weighs 6560 lbs empty, has a payload weight of 3298 lbs, and the tongue weight of 975 lbs. I recently got a new truck and had to get a shank that was three inches longer so I could get my tailgate to clear the power jack. The safety chains are to short now. They stock ones are 27. what would you recommend in parts. thank you

It doesn't sound like you need too much more length to accommodate the longer shank on your new ball mount so I recommend going with the Buyers Products Class 4 Safety Chain # 337BSC3835. This chain measures 35 inches long, includes a clevis style slip hook, and is sufficient for use with trailers that weigh up to 15,000 pounds. You will need to order two of these chains for your setup.
I have attached a short video review that you can check out as well.
