Can 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter be Used without Brake Controller to Tow Trailer with Brakes

Hello I was wondering if you can tow a travel trailer with brake on a truck with a 4 way plug with just the adapter

If you use the part # 37185 and only plug in the 4-way of your truck to it you will be able to control the taillights of your trailer that has brakes but the trailer brakes will not work. The easiest brake controller solution would be then to use the # ETBC7L instead as an adapter, run the black wire up to your vehicle battery, and then use the Curt Echo Mobile brake controller part # C51180 to control the trailer brakes. The is the easiest solution by far and gives you a great brake controller.

If you tow without a brake controller there's a good chance you wouldn't be able to stop quickly enough in the event of an emergency.
