Where is the Best Place to Attach the 12 Volt Input for the Battery Isolation Solenoid  

Question:

I just buy a solenoid PK5231201, and i want to now what is the amp i need to push to my solenoid to open it it let pass the 12 volt on the main . I understad that is 12 volt but its to calculate the wire size to go from my ing under the dash to the solenoid. thanks!!

The battery isolation solenoid itself, # PK5231201, is rated for a maximum of 100 amps, but you will not need that much on the 12 volt circuit that powers the unit. The techs suggest that the middle terminal should be attached to an ignition switch wire. That will carry the correct voltage and amperage needed. Typical 10 or 12 gauge wire will work. You do not want to go too small depending on the distance the power source is from the solenoid.
