Can A Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Be Installed On a 2007 Ford Edge
Question:
I started at P2 vs P3 review questions stating similarity, except only bells and whistles for the P3, which prompts my question: what connections are built into 2007 Ford Edge for the subject item? What do I need to do to install the P2 from dash to my mounted 7-pin receptacle?

The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885 can be installed on your 2007 Ford Edge but there are no plug-ins for this vehicle which means it all needs to be hardwired. In order to install the Prodigy P2 you will need the Wiring Kit for 2, 4, 6, and 8 Brake Electric Trailer Brake Controllers part # 5506. There will then be four wires that you need to attach for the Prodigy P2; one to the 7-way, one to the brake pedal, one to the positive battery terminal, and one to the negative battery terminal.
If you don't want to run a bunch of wires in the vehicle or do any splicing then your best option is by far the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180. The Echo does not require any modifications to the tow vehicle, it just plugs into the 7-way and you use your phone to customize settings and activate the manual override. It uses a device you are already comfortable using (your phone), you do not need to read an entire comprehensive manual and familiarize yourself with the controls and codes to use it. Please note that if your phone loses power the brake controller will still function as normal.
