Measuring Rear Liftgate Clearance for Swagman Original 3 Bike Rack on 2018 Jeep Compass

Question:

This is a followup question. What I really need to know, and maybe I didnt ask it right, is will I be able to open and swing the back liftgate up while the rack is on my Compass? Since this rack doesnt fold down, I need to know if it has enough clearance to actually open the back. Thanks again.

You can confirm rear liftgate clearance for the Swagman Original 3 Bike Rack # S64152-2 on your 2018 Jeep Compass with one simple measurement. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole rearward 14-inches. This is where the upright bar of the Swagman rack will be when installed. Use a straight edge item like a yardstick or wooden dowel to mark this vertical location and open the liftgate. If it does not touch the yardstick then you'll have no clearance issue.
