How Does Replacement Step Pad for Aries Nerf Bars Install with Barrel Nuts

The plastic will not go into the holes. the holes are too small. What do I do?

Are you using the included barrel nuts of the Replacement Step Pad for Aries 4" Wide Oval Nerf Bars # AA2090133? What you would want to do is place the barrel nuts on the step bar and then press the pad into them which also installs them into the step bar.
If the pins of the pad are too small to fit the steps it's also possible you have the wrong replacement pads.
