Installing 5th Wheel Hitch on 2000 Ford F-350 Cab and Chassis
Question:
I am considering purchasing a used 20k Power Pull 5th wheel hitch. Seller has the rails for the hitch. I am installing it on a 2000 F350 cab and chassis no bed. Can you tell me what direct mount kit I would need?

In order to install a set of base rails like the Reese Universal Base Rails # RP30035, for which the hardware/brackets by themselves can be obtained with part # RP30439, you would need to customize quite a bit for them to mount properly on a cab and chassis like your F-350. These are designed to attach base rails to standard spaced frame rails on a truck and won't work as-is with the narrower rails on a cab and chassis.
Because of this your best option is really going to be with a direct-mount hitch like the Reese # RP30054 instead of the Valley unit you are looking to purchase. This particular 5th wheel hitch is designed specifically for cab-and-chassis trucks as it will attach directly to the frame (without the need for base rails).
You will need to install a 1/2 inch thick steel plate under the bed for proper support as well. I have attached the written installation instructions along with a short video review that you can check out.
