Can Breakaway Battery Be Submerged on Boat Trailer

Question:

Hello I recently purchased all the components to switch my surge brakes over to EOH. Got the Hydrastar marine 1600 psi so I could mount in a area that can be submerged. Question is when it comes to the breakaway battery the location that I ideally would like to put it for a nice neat install will be in an area that can also be submerged, I know these batteries are quite often on the tongue of the trailer that ends up getting splashed from the tow vehicle but can they be fully submerged for up to 5 minutes at a time. Thanks you guys are the best.

The battery/battery box for the Pro Series Breakaway Kit # 50-85-315 that you referenced (along with most other units) is weatherproof meaning it's designed to be mounted outside and can handle exposure to rain and splashes but it's not waterproof. Because of this I don't recommend actually submerging this or any other breakaway battery for even a short period of time.

I know it will mean moving it to a less convenient location but I highly recommend mounting the battery in a higher spot or closer up towards the coupler so that it doesn't get submerged when launching your boat. This is going to prevent a lot of potential issues and will just contribute to a longer-lasting product.
