Brakes Lock Up in Reverse But Will Not Work While Moving Forward with Titan Model 10 Brake Actuator
Question:
I have a customer with a Dico model 10 actuator with backup solenoid. He stated that he is not getting any brake activation going forward but his brakes are locking up in reverse. Do you know what could be causing this?

I spoke with my contact at Dexter who owns Titan and they informed me that there could be a few different issues. If they are drum brakes and they were just installed then most likely they are installed on the wrong side of the trailer as this is the most common issue with this problem. The reverse solenoid part # T4748800 could also be installed backwards as this would then shut off the flow of fluid while going forward but not backward.
If the actuator still does not work once you have confirmed the drums and solenoid are installed correctly then just let me know.
