How Do I Determine If I have Torsion Springs or Coil Springs on my 2003 Chevy Tahoe
Question:
How can I tell if my Tahoe uses torsion bar suspension? Do you have a dealer who can install your equipment in the Phoenix, AZ area? Thanks

Expert Reply:
If your truck has four wheel drive it should have torsion bar suspension as this is the preferred suspension for off-roaders because it allows for ride height adjustment. If you have a 2-wheel-drive Tahoe then you should have a coil spring suspension setup since most 2-wheel drive vehicles have coil springs.
An easy way to tell if you are still not sure would be to look at the front suspension. If there is what looks like a spring behind the front wheel then you have coil springs.
Basically, if you have a 4WD model you have torsion bars and you will need the Roadmaster Base Plate # 199-5. If you have the 2WD model you have coil springs and you will need Base Plate # 199-10.
To find someone to install a base plate kit on your vehicle I would look for an automotive repair technician in your area with a good reputation. Since we are near St. Louis MO I am not aware of any places that would be a good choice for you. If you made your way up here we would install it for free if you bought the product from us.
