Replacement Sidewind Jack for 23 Foot Boat Trailer with Shelby A-Frame Jack

Question:

I need to replace jack for boat trailer that carries a 23’ bow rider weighing about 4K lbs. Any suggestions? I dont know model # of the jack except that it’s a Shelby. I would have to wait until I get back out to Arizona in a few weeks to look at it again. Was hoping I could have it in hand to replace while I’m there. Would a 3000 lb jack be sufficient, or should I get a 5000 lb one?

Trailer jacks only have to lift the tongue weight of a trailer. So, your trailer weighing about 4,000 lbs would only have about 400 lbs of tongue weight which the etrailer jack part # TJA-5000S-B that you referenced would easily take care of. This matches the style of jack you need and fits the standard a-frame bracket your trailer has so it will fit and work really well. The 5,000 lb capacity is more than enough and will ensure easy use and little wear on the jack.

To add a wheel to this jack like what you have now you'll just need the part # BD500245.
