Base Plate Adapter to Flat Tow Jeep Wrangler JKU with Smittybuild Gen2 XRC Bumper
Question:
Tow Jeep Wrangler JKU Blue Ox Avail - need bracket and hi-low adapter Hi - i have a Dynamax DX3 RV and my hitch height is significantly lower than my jeep JKU - I am not entirely sure on the height measurement differential, but I want to say I am somewhere in between the need of a 6 inch [lowest amount needed] or an 8 inch [highest amount needed] high low adapter - I am thinking the 7 inch will allow me to split the difference and be OK - [closest to level and trying to avoid a return]. I have a Smittybuilt Gen2 XRC bumper and I wrongly purchased blue ox bracket Blue Ox BX88296 - this bracket fits perfectly except that it is too short and it does not allow for free movement vertically because the mounting point on the bumper has an angle to it and it stops the bracket from swinging upwards. The bracket is too short in length and I am wondering what bracket to get - i think it might be Blue OX BX88304 - I am hoping that bracket fits like the other one I got as the width fits the bumper mounts perfectly as does the pin sizes. I have a blue ox avail and towed with no problems BEFORE i lifted the JKU. Thank you - The picture i attached is the bumper i have and i attach the two bar to where the D rings are in the photo.

For your JKU with the Smittybuilt Gen2 XRC bumper you will want the Blue Ox Base Plate Adapter Brackets for Smittybuilt XRC Atlas Bumpers # BX88357. This will allow you the movement you mentioned and is compatible with your Avail Towbar # BX7420.
For your high-low adapter, the Blue Ox High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars - 2" Hitches - 7" Rise/Drop - 12" Long # BX88241 will meet your needs. As long as you are within 3 inches of level (whether up or down) you will be in the safe range. I've attached an article to help further.
