Trailer Weight Capacity and Ball Mount for 2014 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
I have a 2014 Jeep Wrangler that came with a trailer hitch that has a sticker on it that says “Smittybilt Class IV Max 750lb TongueWT Max 7500lb GTW” on it. How much weight can I tow with this?

Your 2014 Jeep Wrangler is not rated for towing a trailer that is as big as your hitch is rated for. Your hitch is rated for 7,500 lbs, but your vehicle is likely rated for 3,500 lbs or even less at 2,000 lbs depending on your engine, axle ratio, and transmission combination. The descriptions are listed in the owner's manual. Many hitches are independently tested and are rated for capacities that exceed the vehicle manufacturers capacities for the vehicle.
If you don't yet have a ball mount, I recommend the Curt Adjustable Ball Mount # C45900 to give you easy adjustability to tow multiple trailers level. I've attached an article to assist if you prefer a fixed mounted hitch to allow for level towing. If you want to protect your investment I recommend also using a hitch lock like # e98880.
