Troubleshooting Older Roadmaster Even Brake Supplemental Braking System in 2013 Chevy Equinox
Question:
I have an Even Brake system that was new when I bought it in 2008 for use in my 2008 Four Winds Hurricane. I now use it when towing a 2013 Chevy Equinox. Now when installing the unit in the towed vehicle it will go through all of the set up routine so it is getting power but will not build up pressure. QUESTION: If I buy a new Even Brake system can I use it without having to do any additional wiring? Can I just install it in the towed vehicle following the same procedure as with the old one and be good to go? Thanks.

If your Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Supplemental Braking System # RM-9400 will not build pressure after going through its setup routine inside your 2013 Equinox my contact at Roadmaster suggested that you could need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit for Chevrolet Equinox # RM-751439. Since your Even Brake would not complete the setup he thinks this could be why.
The Even Brake system from 2008 and the one made currently are mostly identical but even a new one could have the same issue if the stop light switch is the cause.
