Why do Fuses Need to be Pulled on 2018 Chevy Malibu When Flat Towing

Question:

Have installed rm-156-25 and rm-156-75 charge line kits. Why would fuses f10 and f41 be pulled. According to owners manual it is to prevent battery drain. I have worked over one hour on 3 occasions to bypass tabs into f41 and find it impossible using hands and three different needle nose pliers. I believe battery drain not a issue is charge line kits are installed

We have the same information you have, which comes from the owner's manual. On page 353 of the owner's manual for a 2018 Chevy Malibu it states, as you said, "To prevent the battery from draining while the vehicle is being towed, remove fuses F10 and F41 from the instrument panel fuse block."

We do have to go by what the manufacturer says and therefore cannot recommend you flat tow this vehicle without pulling the fuses. You will want to use the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicle - (2) 20-Amp ATM Mini-Fuses # RM76512 for this and I recommend watching the installation video of this part we have done on a 2018 Chevy Malibu, which should be helpful.
