Can Baggage Door Slam Latch Replace Thumb Cam Style Latch
Question:
My thumb style RV cargo door hatch has been forced partially into the outer fiberglass/foam door per the picture. Id like to replace the latch with a larger and more robust cargo style latch. The door is only around 3/4inch thick and I assume Id have to cut out a large square for the cargo latch. Could this work and are there any installation instructions for the cargo hatches?

The cutout size normally used for installing baggage door slam latches like the part # 295-000015 is 3-1/2 inch by 3-1/2 inch. You'll also need to use the mounting plate part # 295-000016 but you'll also need to verify that your door is thicker than 1-1/4 inches.
Specific instructions aren't available but basically you cut out the opening needed in the hatch and then use the mounting plate to hold the latch tight to the outer area where the latch grabs the hatch.
