Is a Swing Away Bike Adapter a Compatible Solution for a Rear Slide-Out Bed on RV?
Question:
I think the Y36FR bike rack will be best for our 60 and 65 lb. Rad City bikes that we want to carry behind our RV. With the rear bed slide out, Im wondering if a swingaway hitch adapter would enable me to get the bikes out of the way when the bed is extended? Also, I would like to continue flat towing my Ford Focus when taking the bikes along, using a dual hitch adapter. Can you tell me if this would all be possible and if so, what specific parts would you recommend? My head is spinning from reading all the different possibilities and reviews! Thanks!

Expert Reply:
The Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks - 2" Hitches # Y02483 or can be used to move the bikes away from the rear of your slide out. It's not rated for motorhome use, but you can install once at the site to give you the additional clearance. The Yakima will hold up to 250 lbs and extends 28 inches when unfolded.
Either option will work with the Yakima # Y36FR after travel on your motorhome or on the back of a passenger vehicle with a 2 inch receiver.
