What Trailer Wiring Circuits Need to be Ran to Use Curt Echo Mobile Brake Controller

Question:

I see in an earlier post that Jameson C replied to post form gerry that after plugging a 4 way to a 7 way adapter that all is needed is to connect a 12V power supply and the echo brake would function properly. This is not the information that I have read on the curt website. I would really not like to try to tap into my brand new vehicles wiring and so this would be awesome if only a 12V source is required along with a flat 4 connection. Please Explain.

The only additional circuit needed to be ran to a 7-way beyond basic turn signal functions is the 12 volt power circuit for the Curt Echo Mobile # C51180. Beyond this circuit on 7-way wiring you normally have a brake output circuit which wouldn't be used as the Echo is providing that and also a reverse light circuit which a brake controller does not need to activate so what I listed that you mentioned is correct.

To convert your 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller only requires the 7-way adapter kit part # ETBC7L. The 4-way of this plugs into the 4-way of your vehicle and once you run the included wiring and breaker up to the vehicle's positive battery post it's active enough to allow the Echo to function. This saves you from having to hardwire in a brake controller which requires tapping into the brake signal of your vehicle and running a few other wires too.
