Does U-Bolt Plate Need to be Used When Installing Karrite Cargo Box
Question:
just wondering, regarding attaching the carrier to the crossbars, the u-bolt goes under the crossbar, then a bracket is placed over the threaded ends, inside the carrier, then tightened by screwing on the knobs..........would it be safe to not use the brackets and just screw on the knobs to the ends of the u-bolt?

The plate you mentioned on the install hardware for the Karrite cargo box you have has to be used. This provides the box with needed structure so that when you tighten the nuts it holds the box tightly to the crossbars. If you don't use it the box will flex and it won't be as tight as needed.
